New Turbine Foil Manufactured

CRIMSON is developing a marine energy turbine instrumented with a structural health monitoring system. The project is reaching month 25 of 30, and the team have been hard at work over the past few weeks. ÉireComposites in Connemara recently manufactured a new turbine foil for ORPC Ireland, which then underwent a successful fibre optic installation by PhotonFirst during their visit to the composites manufacturer.

Following this, the test rig was carefully loaded up and delivered to University of Galway, where it is currently undergoing tests prior to commencing the next phase of CRIMSON. Consortium members poured an immense amount of effort into this phase of the project, resulting in some extended working hours, but the results speak volumes!

CRIMSON is funded by the European Union under the Horizon 2020 programme.
